Nice To Meet 'Ya

Hi, I'm Camille

I'm the founder, creator, and lead trainer of Unbound Horsemanship and our sister rescue center, Driftwood Horse Rescue.

Growing up in Oregon, I was riding before I could walk and by age 2, I was showing ponies.  From then on, there was never a time in my life that I wasn’t riding and by age 11, I had my first Arabian gelding, Detaunt. While we were riding, jumping, and doing dressage together, endurance trail rides up into the beautiful Cascade Mountains, just the two of us, was the ultimate exploration and adventure.

After spending my early twenties in London studying dressage, I eventually realized that Texas was the home I had always longed for, and moved south to pursue my horse career full time.

In Texas, my life and the horses became completely intertwined and I was on the fast track to the cutting world. Hauling to shows every weekend and spending every hour of the working day loping horses and working the flag-- I could easily lope and work 15 horses in a day. For a horse lover this appeared to be paradise, but something felt like it was missing.

When I was a little girl with Detaunt, there was no schedule, no show, and no agenda.  There wasn’t anyone telling him or I how we were supposed to do things and how we weren’t. We learned how to listen to one another, how to trust one another, and how to build connection and willingness to explore one another's boundaries and capacities.  Doing it “right” or “wrong,” wasn't a consideration, what was important was the relationship we were building. Because of this connection and that true partnership, we were able to do anything together.  That is what I was missing in the show horse world, and what our world needs more of in general: real connection, real partnership, real trust. All these things are brought on by real listening.

The Unbound Training Method was born out of that listening. Influenced by the ethos of Liberty and Natural Horsemanship, the Unbound Training philosophy draws from a large tool box of methodologies and techniques to curate a horse-specific experience. I am passionate about truly listening to your horse's specific imprint and generating a one-of-a-kind program that supports your horse's sustained growth and evolution.

I am not a 30-day or a one-sized-fits-all trainer. Instead, my team and I approach each and every horse with intimate focus and devoted time so that we can  meet milestones and help them find true freedom in their own expression--liberation from stress and unnecessary patterns and fear so that they may become a truly unbound companion.
